"Don't Lighten Up, Tighten Up!"

This post is brought to you by Big Boom, The Bodyguard for Women's Hearts!

Remember a couple of months ago I wrote a post about the ex-pimp that has written a relationship advice book for women (see "Pimps Down, Hos Up???"). Well I read the book. Um...I think I might be a little too young to really appreciate his advice. The book was definitely interesting and thought-provoking, but I don't think I'm his intended audience. But don't let me discourage you, go ahead and check it out yourself.

P.S. The title of this post is one of Big Boom's favorite and most used quotes (and I kinda like it too)!

Home Again

This post is brought to you by New Edition (N.E. Yall LOL)!!!

"Back where I started on my set in black..." (betcha don't know what song that's from...I'll give you the answer after these messages!) Yep, I'm back in Philly and it's kinda bittersweet: I'm glad to be back in my space but I'm missing my family/friends/favorites. But my vacay was pretty good so I won't complain!

While I was in St. Louis (my for real home) Gram treated me to a little shopping so I can "impress the judge" when I start working (her words not mine - gotta love her)! I hung out with the fam and friends and just relaxed a bit. Highlight of this trip: Fee & I going out together! It was a priceless evening. They had me at a 30+ club for Daryl's (my step-father - that still tickles me) 50th B-Day Celebration. Old people drinking and dancing - yes it was as funny as it sounds! Needless to say, I thoroughly enjoyed that little adventure.

In Atlanta I was given the opportunity to try my hand at nursing! The Duke (somehow, someway) contracted tonsillitis! Yep BIG FUN!!! So he was pretty under the weather for the majority of the trip but by Monday he was feeling much better. We went to the new World of Coca Cola and I must say I had a great time! It really is different from the old one (check it out the next time you're in the neighborhood) Highlight of this trip: dinner & a movie! No not the traditional go get something to eat then catch a movie. There is an AMC Theatre in Buckhead that actually serves dinner (and beer & wine) while you enjoy your feature presentation! I know freaking fantastic! We weren't able to do the things we had planned but I'm sure there will be many more Atlanta trips and plenty of time to play catch-up.

Now I'm back to the "real world." I have a couple of days to recuperate and prepare for work (I start Monday YAY)! I am really looking forward to it too!

It's Me Again...

This post is brought to you by Tweet's It's Me Again!

"It's me again and I'm grateful for another chance..." Okay so I have neglected my blog for the last month but for good reason...FINALS (and they were a beast) but that's over so I can go back to being a regular person (well at least for a couple months).

School has ended so the VACAY has began! I'm in Memphis headed to St. Louis and one last stop in Atlanta before going back to Philly to start working (so I haven't gotten a job yet but I'm waiting to hear back about an interview I had last week - details @ a later date).

I AM A 3L NOW! (Caution: Random Announcements Ahead - LOL)

Nothing too exciting going on right now. I did have the pleasure of seeing Johnny Legend (again) at the Beale Street Music Festival! He was AWESOME (but really are we surprised)! Got to spend QT with fam and friends that I hadn't seen in a while. But most importantly I had another slumber party with my favorite: J-BOOGIE (my bad shawty LOL)! And of course we had a blast!

GRADUATION IS A MERE 12 MONTHS AWAY!

Not much else to blog about right now but I'm sure I'll have plenty more stories to tell! So till next time...

P.S. I'M GOING TO BE A LAWYER!

Pimps Down Hos Up???

No one was brave enough to sponsor this one LOL!

Yes this is April 1st but no this is not a joke! I know I've already written my post for the day but I couldn't possibly past this up. Evidently an ex-pimp has written a relationship advice book for women and you'll never guess the title... If You Want Closure in Your Relationship, Start with Your Legs: A Guide to Understanding Men. Can you believe it? A pimp telling us to keep that quarter 'tween our legs! Ya gotta love it.

Big Boom is the author (I know it just keeps getting better!) The new edition (yep there's an old edition) is set to hit the shelves in June. Here's an article about it:
http://www.blackvoicesblogs.com/2007/03/29/big-boom-ex-pimp-tells-ladies-to-close-their-legs/ and Mr. Boom has a myspace page (of course) http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=91457383.

I plan to thumb through a copy because I am dying to know what Mr. Boom has to say!

Let's Get Away

This post is brought to you by T.I.'s Trap Muzik!

Okay so I'm already mourning my Spring Break! I had a wonderful time - might have been the best SB so far! (Side bar - I'll be introducing more of the royal court.) I started off by going to Memphis, TN to see my family, friends and most importantly my Godson, The Prince! He is not only my first God-child but also the first baby of the royal court so you know I'm completely in love & he has me wrapped around his finger (and he just 1 month old LOL)! He spent the night with me so I was really able to "play mom." I even had the opportunity to accompany The Prince & Princess Snowflake (that's his mommie & one of my dearest friends) to the doctor. The visit was basically drama free - well The Prince did "tinkle" on the scale but he's still a newborn so it's still cute! It was fun but no I'm not planning any surprises in the next 9 months - The Prince is all I need! I was also able to spend time with my Daddy & Step-Mom - always fun times! And I also picked up a pair of cute shoes! Only one sad face of this part of the trip: Princess Nette (also one of my dearest friends & royal "road dog" LOL) & I weren't able to coordinate our outing but that's okay I'll be back!

The next stop: ATL! I was able to see & spend time with my "other family" The Williams of SW Atlanta! I did a little shopping (which means another pair of shoes) and I went to The Lil' Duke's (that's The Duke's little brother, he's one of my favorites!) baseball game (they didn't win but he played well). There is a BIG sad face for this portion of the trip but I'll tell you all about that in the next post. The following day, The Duke & I set out on the next leg of the trip.

Next stop: Destin, FL. The place was beautiful! I have never seen water so clear & sand so white (they call it"sugar sand"). The water was crystal clear - so clear that we were in 15 ft. of water & I could still see the bottom! I was simply amazed by the water! We went out, got drunk, saw dolphins & stingrays, did some shopping, & ate good food - all the elements of a perfect trip!

Highlight #1: the "Tennessee Girls" trying to "hunch" The Duke! We were at this little spot called Fudpuckers having drinks & we decided to go check out the bong contest. As The Duke walked across the dance floor, a chick came out of nowhere & started dancing on him LOL! And being the good Duke that he is, he quickly walked away I guess he didn't want me to go"ghetto girl" but I was thoroughly entertained by the whole ordeal.

Highlight #2: Number 14 from Whataburger! Trust me this is what you want in your life. It's a chicken biscuit with some kinda honey butter! This was our late-night meal on several occasions. It's so good, especially when you're drunk!

So if you ever get the chance to go to Destin (or anywhere or the Emerald Coast for that matter) go! And after a drunken evening, get a chicken biscuit from Whataburger!
